LOCATION AND NEIGHBOURHOOD
Kayyeni Eccofarm is situated at Attapadi, Palakkad district,
kerala, India.
It is 15 acres of organic farm surrounded by 150 acres of
natural evergreen and semi evergreen forest.
The nearest market is Agali, 10 kilometers away which is the
administrative headquarters of Attapadi.
Attapadi is a hilly area of 765 sqkm, a part of western ghats, located in northeast
side of Palakkad District. This area is inhabited mainly by tribal people
belonging to ‘Irula’, ‘Muduga’, and ‘Kurumba’ tribes. Attappadi is famous for
its tribal culture and beautiful landscapes.
Silent Valley is the world famous rain forest which is rich
with biodiversity and a verity of rare flora and fauna. It is conserved by
Government of India as a national park to protect the endangered lion-tailed
macaque. Silent valley is the north west border area of Attapadi and only 60
kilometers away from Kayyeni ecoform.
Muthikulam is another evergreen forest area which is as rich
as Silent Valley in biodiversity. It is the catchment area of Siruvani dam and
Siruvani sream which flows through Kayyeni Ecofarm. An exclusive attraction of kayyeni is a
secret trek path to Muthikulam forest through Siruvani stream.
The word ‘Mnjoor’ means the land of mist. It is a high
altitude town of more than 3000 meters of height. This pretty town is surrounded
by beautiful tea estates, grass mountains with sholai forest. There is a short
cut from Attapadi to Manjoor. 43 hairpin curves, Kunda Dam and hydro power station, and misty
mountain scenes make this route unforgettable. Annamalai temple is situated on
a beautiful hill of Manjoor which is the best aerial view point of Manjoor
valley.
It is one of the most important ornithological research
centers of India, which is named after Dr. Salim Ali, the world famous
ornithologist. Common people as well as research persons visit this center for
achieving knowledge and enjoy bird watching. This institution is situated in
Coimbatore district and 35 kilometers distant from Kayyeni.
Coimbatore is the nearest city which is only 60 kilometers
away from Kayyeni. It is one of the gateway of Attapadi for air and train
passengers.
Palakkad town is another gateway of attapadi, which is 90
kilometers away from Kayyeni. It is an important railway junction and headquarters
of Palakkad district.
